What Is Included in a Yacht Delivery Quote?

One of the questions we are often asked is what is—and isn’t—included in a yacht delivery quote. Different companies structure their pricing in different ways, so when comparing quotations, it helps to understand exactly what each one covers.
At Oceantrax, we aim to make our quotations as comprehensive and transparent as possible. Each quote includes an explanation of our pricing and terms, giving you a clear picture of the costs involved.
How We Calculate A Yacht Delivery Quote
We consider the yacht, the time of year and the distance between the departure point and destination to estimate how long the delivery should take.
We also allow contingency days for weather delays, potential crew rest stops on longer passages and any anticipated maintenance stops for the yacht.
This gives us an estimated contract period on which to base your quotation. Within this period, we include one day to prepare the vessel before departure and one day to thoroughly clean on completion.
Occasionally we may quote a daily rate, this is usually when there is some limiting factor involved in the delivery, such as vessel that can only travel in certain conditions or when there is no reasonable way to estimate the time a delivery will require. If this is the case then the daily rate will be stated in the quotation.
What Is Included?
Our yacht delivery quotations include:
A suitably qualified skipper and crew for the intended passage.
The skipper’s fee and crew for the estimated contract period.
The pilot books and charts required for the passage.
Crew management and liaison with you or your appointed representative throughout the contracted period.
Provisions for the intended voyage.
A thorough clean on completion, together with a vessel condition report.
Access to Oceantrax’s network of maintenance and support contacts where required.
What Is Not Included?
The following costs are separate from the delivery fee:
Fuel.
Crew travel costs and visas, where required.
Berthing fees.
Canal fees, cruising permits and other applicable vessel charges.
Basic vessel maintenance items, such as replacement bulbs, engine oil and filters.
All of the above are charged at cost. On request, we can provide an estimate of these expenses to help you budget for the overall delivery.
What Happens If There Are Delays?
Weather conditions or equipment failures can occasionally delay a delivery. We include contingency days in our quotation, and if the delivery is completed within the quoted contract period, there is no additional skipper’s fee for those delays. Expenses such as fuel and berthing remain chargeable at cost.
If a delay extends the delivery beyond the quoted period, additional fees may apply. Our aim is always to keep these costs to a minimum and discuss the available options with you.
For a prolonged delay, it may be more economical for the crew to leave the yacht and return when the delivery can resume. Although this incurs additional travel costs, it can reduce the overall expense compared with keeping the crew on board for an extended period while waiting for a suitable weather window, repairs or replacement parts.
If a mechanical failure occurs during the delivery, we work with the owner to help resolve the situation wherever possible. When the yacht is abroad, it may be beneficial for the skipper to remain with the vessel to liaise with local engineers and help coordinate repairs. We would discuss this option and any associated costs with you.
Comparing Yacht Delivery Quotes
When comparing quotations, look beyond the headline price. Check the estimated contract period, what is included and which expenses will be charged separately. It is also helpful to understand how any delays beyond the quoted period will be handled.
Our aim is to make these details clear from the outset, so you can plan your yacht’s delivery with confidence. All our quotations are valid for 30 days.
If you have any questions about your Oceantrax quotation, we are always happy to talk you through it.
